This last Monday (01/10/2012) the crew gathered up B herd for weaning and hoof maintenance. Blair Labatt III joined the crew and participated.
Early that morning horses were gathered, saddled up, and trailed to pasture 15 in B-block. The crew split up into groups of 2 and spread out across the pasture to seek out B herds' cow-calf pairs. The majority of cattle came from the north of the pasture, and were trailed along the Eastern fence line of pasture 15 into B-block's pens.
Padres Mesa Ranch crew teamed New Lands ranchers within the 14R community. Cattle were gathered, transported, weighed, sorted and vaccinated. All of these measures are taken to promote the rise of beef standards and help community members maintain a sustainable ranching business.
